Pattern and Tutorial Ratings

Beginner - You have made some basic patterns such as an iPad cover or a pair of boxer shorts, possibly a gathered skirt. You are getting used to the sewing machine. You are working on getting even seam allowances and other basic skills.

Confident Beginner - You have sewn a more complicated garment such as a dress or simple shirt. You are starting to feel a little bored with the basic patterns and would like something a little more complex. You may still find some basic things such as buttonholes or zippers a bit daunting, but you will try them. You are interested in drafting some patterns for simple garments, eg. circle skirt or dirndl skirts.

Intermediate - You are making garments with linings, facings, collars, etc. You can alter patterns to change fit and style. You are drafting intermediate level patterns.

Advanced - You are confident working with difficult fabrics and have drafted your own patterns for more complicated garments. You are able to fix complicated fitting problems and are familiar with couture finishing techniques.
